St. Louis Strong Applauds Bipartisan Municipal Reform

For Immediate Release June 17, 2016

Statement by Jake Hollander, Founder of St. Louis Strong

“In a rare spectacle, Missouri Republicans and Democrats came together to pass common sense municipal reform. The law caps municipal revenues harvested from onerous ordinance violations such as overgrown weeds and mismatched curtains. By also easing the process of disincorporation through establishing reasonable petition and voting thresholds, this law places local control back in the hands of the people. We hope that these small steps will begin to restore trust between residents and their municipalities by creating greater accountability and responsiveness. Such bipartisan support in the age of polarization demonstrates the basic justice of these reforms.”
